Chemical Peels
As the skin ages, both chronologically and with sun damage and photoaging, the outermost layer of our skin (composed of dead skin cells) adheres for a longer period of time and becomes a thicker layer. This imparts dryness, toughness, and a yellow dull coloration to the skin. Chemical peels are a great option for skin rejuvenation. They work by loosening the “glue” that binds the dead skin cells together at this outermost layer of your skin. Chemical peels achieve a more uniform exfoliation than occurs naturally. This exfoliation of dead skin cells exposes the healthier skin cells below, increases the rate of new skin cell turnover, and stimulates production of collagen and elastin. There are many different types of peels with different depths of exfoliation. Our Medical Esthetician can help you determine which of the following peels may be best for you to achieve your skin care goals. |
Lactic Peel
This 70% Lactic Acid peel is used for skin rejuvenation. Patients with acne, pigmentary changes, moderate wrinkles, or actinic damage can achieve noticeable results in the look and feel of their skin. The peel acts by loosening the cohesive glue-like adhesion in the outer five to six layers of dead skin. As these outer layers begin to loosen and exfoliate with daily skin care, new skin cells are produced which are healthier and more youthful looking. For optimal results, this superficial, no down time peel is recommended in a series of 6 treatments, performed once every week by our Medical Esthetician.
Jessner’s Peel
This peel is a superficial peel comprised of three different peeling agents (resorcinol, lactic, and salicylic acid). Each agent acts in a slightly different manner, making the solution highly effective and predictable. A Jessner’s Peel smoothes and rejuvenates sun-damaged skin. It is indicated for patients with mild to severe acne, melasma, moderate wrinkling, and actinic damage. There is little or no down time. Most patients will experience mild to moderate flaking of the skin starting approximately 3 days after the peel and will continue for approximately 3 days. For optimal results, this peel is done in a series of 6 peels, done once every 2 weeks by our Medical Esthetician.
Vitalize Peel
This peel utilizes lactic acid, resorcinol, salicylic acid and retinoic acid in a unique blend to provide a strong, but gentle treatment appropriate for all skin types. The Vitalize Peel has been clinically proven to reduce visible signs of aging. You will notice an improvement in skin texture and tone, lessening of fine lines, and a healthier, more youthful appearance. There is little or no down time. Most patients will experience mild flaking of the skin starting approximately 3 days after the peel and will continue for approximately 3 days. For optimal results, this peel is done in a series of 6 peels, done once every 2-3 weeks by our Medical Esthetician.

Blue Peel
One of the more aggressive and highly effective chemical peels
we offer is the OBAGI Blue Peel. This unique in-office
procedure is designed to significantly improve the appearance
and health of your skin. The peel is effective for many skin
conditions including hyperpigmentation, photoaging, sun damage,
melasma, wrinkles, large pores, acne scars, and more.
Using a low concentration of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), the
Blue Peel will remove the thin surface layers of aged and damaged
skin from the face or other parts of the body. The acid is mixed
with a “blue base”, a built in safeguard that allows Dr. Eliopoulos
to precisely control the depth of the peel to ensure more consistent
results. Before having a Blue Peel you must first pre-condition
your skin with the OBAGI Nu-Derm System for at least 6 weeks.
This helps to reduce risks of altered pigmentation from the Blue Peel. |

Following the procedure, you may experience light swelling
and redness, and your skin will begin to peel within 2-3 days.
This peeling will continue over the next several days and you
should be healed approximately about 10 days post Blue Peel.
Once your skin has completely finished peeling, you will
immediately notice the results of your improved complexion.
In most cases 1-2 Blue Peels can achieve dramatic improvements
in many skin problems.
